N20 engines use direct injection. Bad injectors can literally dump fuel causing misfires. Spark plugs at the end of their useful life can make misfires worse. Combine it with bad wiring (rubber insulation weakens with time) which does not deliver proper electrical signals and it's easy to use how these three components have to work together well to prolong engine life.
It's common to replace direct injectors and pay attention to spark plugs and wires later. All three need attention especially properly gapped spark plugs after injector replacement.
