The fuel quantity control valve (also known as the metering unit) is one that fails electrically more often (although still uncommon), followed distantly by the rail pressure regulating valve.
No shavings is good, because all the fuel follows that path. Shavings WILL be there if it has issues.
When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
