This happened in my last car... twice. I ended up zip tying a metal parmesan shaker to my engine bay and stuffing it with new dryer sheets every other week and surrounding my car port with boxes filled with rat poison. I'm terrified it's going to happen to my new car. If anyone has any better solutions, I'd love to hear them.
