Installed the power trunk on my 340 a week ago. I like the feature. The one thing that annoyed me was the 2 button power trunk switch supplied. It has a non functioning lock button. I have comfort access and it would have been a nice feature having the button lock the car when pressed. Contacted Bimmertech and they replied saying:
For now, the button is inactive, but when we have it our R&D team plans to activate it in the future and make it work like it works in the OEM power trunk. So once you press it the trunk will close and lock the doors.
This power trunk retrofit has been around for 10 years so I don't have confidence this will be revised on the F3x platform. Having a non functioning lock button didn't sit well with me visually so I took a chance and ordered the genuine BMW one button power trunk switch which was the same size dimensionally as the Bimmertech BMW knockoff. Fitment is perfect and plug n play with the Bimmertech connector.
