This comment made me worried a little so I went figured out how to do the calculations myself.
235/40/18 is far from "seriously" undersized. It is still within the 3% threshold so is still well within acceptable size. 235/40/18 is approximately 2.4% smaller than 255/40/18. Naturally the 245 width will be even closer to the OEM 18" sizing and a better option.
This does make me wonder why APEX would recommend a 235 width tire over a 245 width if the 245 is even closer to stock spec. Maybe the 235 wide works better with an 8.5" wide wheel? I'm going to ask!
