After all my research it was pretty conclusive that the RS4 has the best life to performance balance in the segment, so I'll definitely be following your suggestion having them flipped after a few days. I have -1.9 up front so I don't expect a big difference in wear to yours.

I ran 245/40-18 on APEX SM-10 8.5" wide rims. The tread width of the R-S4s is more similar to that of a 255 tire though according to Tire Rack.
