Yes it is xDrive. I'm guessing it should be 8.5 x 19 all round then?
In the interest of clearing up typos, in your original post you said:

"My tyres have only recently been changed so I've got the Bridgestone Potenza's 225 40R 19 BY and 225 35R 19 YB fitted."

Just to let you know, this is not a safe combination for xDrive vehicles and can damage your transfer cases. BMW says not to deviate more than 1% in diameter between axles/tires, the 35's are 3.4% smaller in diameter.

Are the tire sizes you listed accurate?

EDIT: Saw the post above, 255/35 is the OE spec and only .4% smaller in diameter than the 225/40. Perfectly safe.
