I had the exact same problem and come to find out that I was leaving the a/c on max setting but I was turning fan speed down which was allowing it to freeze since it wasn't blowing fast enough. Now I use Max A/C to cool the car off once its cool or even cold I change it to the regular A/C settings and it works fine and no more freezing up.
