The thing is.... you were not driving!
You were stationary, ignition off, and simply getting out of your car. Totally his fault, and you often see these clowns cutting across supermarket car parks, rather than use the designated lanes. Pure laziness.
If anything, would logging it with your local police force, explaining that this clown almost took you are your door out, then just walked off,mean you were covered, without the insurance company seizing an opportunity to increase your policy amount?
