I had to leave my car on the drive for 3 days while the council sorted ours. Day 3 I fabricated some ramps but they were not strong enough and one of the seams broke. The car being a lowered e92 at the time didn't take well to this. I managed to get it back on to the drive and luckily I was on leave anyway. Scraps of wood is a good idea. You can drive on it within a few hours of it being laid. Sand is another option as is shingle. Just make sure it is strong.
