It seems new Headunit Hardware did appear faster than thought.
For serval Mercedes and BMW cars there are now new Headunits available, spec so far known are:
- 4/8 core 2.0 Ghz MTK Processor (2/4 core unknown MTK, 8 Core seem to be Helio P60 CPU )
- 2/8 GB RAM
- 32 /64GB / 128 GB Flash Memory.
- Android 10 ?
- Available configurations Core / Memory / flash :
4C / 2GB / 32GB
8C / 8GB / 64GB
8C / 8GB / 128GB
In Terms of raw performance the new CPU seems to be around +30 ~ +100% faster than the Snapdragon 625 CPU.
However as the SD625 CPU with 4GB ram does have not real performance issue at the moment its not sure yet what benefit that new hardware will have at all.
On this upgrade the more important factor is the Software.
The shops are still using images from Snapdragon 625 Headunits, so its also not known which Android Image is installed.
As MTK processors are in general not used that much it likely may be that lots of the modification tools wont work.
As of now there is also no BMW/MB MTK headunit known tha has been rooted successfully .
So if someone already got such a new Hardware it would be cool if we could do some remote analyzing (Laptop+ Internet required) to see what that headunits are performing and what software is installed.
