Aircon man now spotted oil residue below the condenser. Temporarily re-charged the system and now sort of working (moderate cooling).
He has ordered condenser to be fitted next week. He seemed to suggest that it is a long and difficult job in the F30? Is it something where I need to set aside the car for a few hours?
