I have a 2012 335i that's exhibiting symptoms of a bad steering rack thrust piece (https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1603926).

Does anyone know of any shops a reasonable distance from DC that will perform the thrust piece replacement, as opposed to throwing out the whole rack? I've tried to call a few shops and ask if they'd even perform the repair, and they all say something to the effect of "well, we'd need to see the car first..."

I really want to know if they even have the capability to do so (since this requires some special tools) before I drop my car off for a few hundred dollars in diagnostics, only to be told "well we can't do the repair but we can put in a new rack for $2k".
GT Peace Automotive does that repair. Shouldn't cost more than an hour of labor if you have the tool.
