The failure of the transfer case should be obvious from the outside of it. The failures I have seen were that the part that attaches to rear driveshaft has some damage where it connects to the transfer case.
Sorry to hear about your metering valve and line. I would source those used if you needed them cheaper.
Did it have codes for the metering valve?
The leaky pipe I understand if it got damaged somehow.
