The coating they use on the bulb to make them appear whiter also causes them to run hotter. The hotter an element is the shorter the lifespan.

They aren't. That same coating also reduces the lumens output. Whiter, yes, but whiter and brighter aren't the same thing. Knowing that I wanted it brighter is why I took the time to research the lumens output on all of the H7 options. The Osram Rallye is the only H7 with significantly (50%) higher lumens output than stock.
