My 335ix survived the track
I instructed my 1st driving school this year with my '13 335ix. And I have mixed feelings about it.
I am used to track a '635csi turbocharged with slicks and race suspension + full roll cage and 6 point harnesses.
The Good:
- The car is fast, I didn't even put stage 1 yet and it was fast.
- The car handling wasn't bad
- Akebono brake pads handled the sessions very well
- The ZF8HP is pure poetry. This transmission is incredible and the shifts were perfect.
- The AWD wasn't an issue at all.
The Bad:
- Pirelli Cinturato P7 are pure junk, time to get some stickier tires soon.
- The car is too quiet... at least on the track. I need more engine/exhaust noise.
- The car could use a bit less body roll. Don't want to sacrifice handling for everyday driving so I might consider sway bars instead of lowering.
- Sport + vs DTC/DSC off... I like the car in Sport +, but I hate the e-differential smoking my rear pads. with DTC/DSC completely off, the car feels a bit sluggish.
Bottom line: time to look for another track at some point, something I can still drive the track without a trailer. Maybe an E92 M3 with 1/2 cage and harness.
