I've read similar stuff about Japan. Apparently it's not as simple as get a $1 house. Lots of requirements and they are $1 for a reason. The cost to fix them, taxes, tear them down or whatever is not usually worth the value of the home or land. We have this in Detroit. I've seen some houses in Detroit listed that are FREE, with the stipulation that you MUST repair it and live in it. Still a hard pass for me.
