The GTR DCT transmission was co developed by BorgWarner, the same team who developed the Bugatti Veyron DCT Trans. It is an impressive piece of racing machinery. Purpose built for shifting fast and withstanding serious abuse.
The ZF8 transmission has a large range. 8HP45-50 in most N55 models is made to handle 400 ft lbs of torque and maintain great gas mileage. the 8HP75, most likely in the RS7 has beefed up valving, internals etc.
Upgrading the 8HP in the BMW lineup is something we are working on. Unfortunately it's not as simple as slapping some parts together and getting GTR like performance. |
