The worst thing about it was BMW wouldn't acknowledge it as a common issue and tried to say it was something that I had done as I had tried to fix the problem. The issue started at 6k miles...
I don't trust BMW dealership technicians with their diagnoses anymore. They acknowledged that there was a vibration when they sat in the car but then said it was the diff when it wasn't.
I'm suprised a big car company like BMW doesn't have any specialist tools to attach to parts of the car that would easily show where the vibration is coming from. All they do is raise the car and spin the wheels, as the vibration only happens at high speed, they can't spin the wheels fast enough or under load to replicate the problem so are usually just guessing what they think it is.
