Remove the underpanel, the intercooler itself is only held in by two torx (I believe) screws and then you just remove the two pipes. Done.

Little more to it then that but pretty much. He's gonna struggle with the 2 plastic clips that hold the horseshoe clip on the inlet pipes. This has to be removed as well before just dropping down. Also highly highly suggest replacing the o rings if you have any type of mileage north of 35-40k especially pushing harder boost.
Boost leaks will plague you to death. Do the o rings while the intercooler is down.
