Long driving trips, no problem! BMW engine's just purr at US highway speeds. Heck, remember these cars are designed for autobahn speeds! We've made several 800-900 mile trips and one 3,000 mile trip. Usually average 29 mpg with F30 335ix loaded with people and luggage.
Trip Preparation:
Make sure your maintenance is all up to date and your fluids topped up. Cold tire pressures maybe a pound or two more than door jam specification for mostly highway driving. New wiper blades if needed.
I carry a bottle of 2 in 1 RainX glass cleaner and water repellent, along with a roll of paper towels. Clean windshield when you stop for gas. Helps reduce eye strain especially driving at night. If you get caught in rain, RainX makes water bead up and run off. Developed originally for racing. Half of the time I don't bother turning on the wipers.
Enjoy your trip! Hope this helps!
