That blows. Sorry no one has chimed in about your blown engine -- the topic has been beat to death and it's just a shitty situation. BMW has lost a lot of credibility and loyal customers by not holding themselves accountable for their own mistakes. I mean, most timing BELTS will last 82K (as in your case) -- so it's obviously their screw up if timing CHAIN assemblies are going bad in as much time -- grenading the engine.
My engine is allegedly unaffected (with the "revised" parts), but even I'm appalled and at how they are handling this and not sure if I ever want to buy a BMW again -- not sure if I can support a company with such horrifyingly bad moral behavior.
