340i MPPSK, next steps to hitting 450/500 but staying reliable?

Hey guys,

I’ll be honest, I know very little about the performance side of things, but I’d like to dabble a bit and push my 340 just a little.

She’s an x drive mppsk 2017

Where do I start? Catted down pipe from AA? Fuel pump? Then stage 2? Probably MHD.

I really want to stay on 93 so buying gas remains easy.

No need for HPFP upgrade if you're gonna stick with non E fuel.
Next step log your stock tune to see how things are going.
If all is good next step install the downpipe and either MHD or BM3 and log Stage 1.
if all is good move to stage 2 then log again and decide from there.

+ Better Log Stock tune after hard driving to see how much tuning room you've got.

What is your local fuel availability and quality? Guys in Eastern Canada often complain that gasoline is poor quality and they don’t have access to E85.

Bootmod3 has 93, 91 and 91ACN tunes for the poor quality gasoline in Arizona, California and Nevada. Bootmod3 91ACN tune works well in Canada too.

From listening to the hype of guys talking about their Stage2 tunes, most people don’t realize that the performance improvement from stock to Stage1 is much greater than from Stage1 to Stage2. So you can easily buy Bootmod3 and a $20 installation cable and install Stage1 91ACN from your laptop in 15 minutes. Then drive it, enjoy it and decide later if it’s worth installing a downpipe to get a much more minor performance bump by going to Stage2.

It’s important to understand that after a Stage1 tune, additional power costs more & more per each additional horsepower. A Stage1 tune is by far the Best Bang for the Buck!

Note: It will also cost $50 for a Bootmod3 unlimited Map Pack to get all tunes for your car, if you want to go Stage2 or anything else later. BM3 license includes one tune of your choice. Also note that Bootmod3, unlike MSD, is transferable so you can trade in your car and install it on your new BMW, or you can deinstall BM3 and sell it used for about $350.

I’ve used Bootmod3 for five years. Haven’t spent a dime in tuning since my initial investment. Bootmod3 has all free upgrades and updates. Great tech support!

What exactly is the additional cost of Stage 2 other than a high flow or catless DP ?

Also with good quality fuel Stage 2 is noticeably more powerful than Stage 1.

Don't know what BM3 all maps cost, but with MHD super license you get all Stage 1, 2 and HPFP and mapswitch.

I’m in BC, we actually have shell v power which I’ve heard is excellent.

I have the MPPSK, so I already have like a .75 stage tune, I’m looking for the next step. Push it as far as I can reliably can given it’s my daily. I know stag 2 over stage 1 is meh.

Yeah, I was trying to do it all myself, but maybe it would be smart to hit up a tuner

No need for a tuner for this, just post the logs here and many people will help you.

Why pay a tuner $700-$1000? Total waste of money for a stock turbo. There is little upside over an OTS tune like Bootmod3.
