Try a decal eraser wheel. I used one to remove pin striping from a car years ago and also stubborn adhesive residue after debadging my wagon, without negative effects.

Be careful using the decal eraser wheels on plastic body parts. I've heard horror stories if it burning the plastic. I think they're designed for use on metal body panels that will absorb more of the created heat.

I would clean entire area, put a layer of spray protectant on it (ie Mother's), use a heat gun(or hair dryer) to gently warm it all up, and use a plastic scraper to catch the edges and get it all started. good luck
