DOWN PIPES

I have an N55 engine and was considering getting downpipes. Butttt, how annoy is the drone noise? Is it similar to a muffler delete? Also, what is the difference between catted and catless? Is there a sound difference? Which is better? Thanks!

I have zero drone whatsoever even with resonator delete. I'd suggest searching as there's dozens of video's available

Sorry to hijack the thread... how much do you guys normally pay for a downpipe install on a F30 N55? My Indy shop quoted 4 hours of labor. Apparently they have to remove the exhaust.. mine is not an X-drive either

It took me just 3 hours on the ground. I could have done it in 2 on a lift. It helps to remove the 2 hanger bolts in the midpipe to allow wiggle room but no need actually remove the exhaust.

No they don't need to remove the exhaust lol I swapped mine out in about an hour and didn't remove anything but the downpipe.

No drone if you get quality downpipes ... Our most popular is Wagner followed by VRSF a close second

I have a cat-less down pipe and experience absolutely no drone at any rpm.

About the same here. Would have much preferred to do it on a lift. I think I could have done it in a little over an hour on a lift.

They definitely do not have to remove the exhaust. Got mine done for $200 at a reputable shop down here in Miami. Took them one hour to install.

When you first do it it may take you 2-3 hours. But once you are familiar with it you could do in an hour or less. I did it my self with a floor jack and jack stands. Just make sure you disconnect the sensors first from the engine bay first and loosen the bolts to the mid pipe. You are also going to need a sensor removal socket. They are fairly inexpensive. The job is not too bad and there is a how to in the DIY section. I did it myself because I did not want to keep paying some one to swap it out when it is it is time for a dealer visit or State inspection.

As for me I went with the VRSF cause Mike gave me a good deal on one.
