Can I upgrade from 6.5 to 8.8 inch screen

Hi all, I've searched the forum but can't find anything specific. When looking online I'm getting conflicting information. I believe I have CIC set up ( vin decoder information is below ) but online it says CIC should have a cd button where my media button is and I've also read that CIC video cable has 4 pins, mine had 6? Looking at my screen it says BMW L7 mid, there is also a BMW L7 high screen available which is larger, part number 9292248. Question is can I upgrade to this larger screen. I have attached photos below of my current idrive system. The controller originally had the small round dial on it, it is only a large one now as I have stuck it over the top of the small one.

What’s the build date, CIC in the F30 was only up to 11/2012, after that should be NBT. Most likely to be NBT…..

On vin decoder my production date is showing as 20.06.2013.
My display has the red outline around the selection which points towards CIC... so confused!

For those with LCI cars and the ENTRYNAV HU, I fitted an 8.8" screen today to my 2016 330d.

It was a lot easier than I was expecting!

I fitted the screen in preparation for a Carplay MMI box. No one wants the 6 inch life with Carplay.

Should go in no problem. I paid £140 for the 8.8" screen from ebay, which came out of a 2015 F34. I thought about the 10" screen but apparently some chopping is required in the F3X, which I'm not down for.

All the split screen stuff works as it should and it seems to boot up faster as well, and faster response to the Idrive knob commands, which I didn't expect. I didn't know the screen had that kind of influence over the HU.

Well worth doing as the small screen just looks rubbish with the massive borders. A waste of real estate

You need an APIX2 screen for that car, a screen from a 2015 model is not correct.

Thanks as always, although I don't know what an APIX2 screen even is.

On my 2019 F31 can I just change the screen to the 8.8 and code it? Vin is WBA8H92010A967947

Sorry, I overlooked yours is that late. You likely have the Harman or Alpine NBT_EVO HU in your car and APIX2 is the touchscreen I believe.

I fitted a 9339 successfully to a 2019 touring on the previous car

Coded the following
3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_DISPLAY_RES = 1280_480
3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_DISPLAY_SIZE = 8_8
3001 DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display
3006 NAVIGATION > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_TOUCH = aktiv
300B TOUCH_COMMAND > CID_HMI_TOUCH = aktiv

Worked perfectly for mine

Thank you both, Two for sale on ebay, one at £345 and one at £399

Wondering if it's just worth getting an Android one for that money
