I usually leave it off unless I'm using the nav, then I have either the upcoming turns or the now playing media on the right side with the nav on the left main side

I like to go full Nav. Wish their "media" option had the Album Art take up more room on the screen.

This might make me sound like a dullard, but on the right side, I have Trip Information, on the left I usually keep it on Onboard Info, but occasionally swap it with the Sport Displays. I also prefer using Google Maps on my phone over the BMW Nav.

Right is entertainment info when I'm playing songs from radio/sirius. When I'm playing media through my iPhone or usb stick, I use only one screen so there isn't 2 artwork on there. I set 5 to turn of split screen.

I have ID6, so for regular day-to-day commuting I leave it on the home screen with 3 live tiles Navigation, Media, and Date/Bluetooth info.
But if I'm traveling and actually using the GPS, I do the Nav/Media combo. I actually really like the BMW Nav and being able to see immediate directions in the HUD and then a larger overall map on the screen. |

When I first purchased the car, I hated that split screen since everything would be small and wondered if and when I'd even use it. After upgrading to the 10.2", I typically have my Trip info, analog clock, clock/weather or sport screen on right, then the NAV or main menu on the left. (use Android Auto to control music) Definitely recommend a toggle preset for the split screen as there are times where I just want the full view.

I use a split map view. On the left, a 3D zoomed in of the road ahead. On the right, a 2D north-up view at 10km zoom, in traffic mode. That way I see the immediate road ahead and also the route conditions from a larger perspective.
The only thing I would like is the 2D map view to center not on the car location, but to fit as much of the road ahead according to the route. When I'm not navigating, I still keep it in the same view, with the right window zoom set to show my home city enabling me to have a glance at the traffic situation on the main highways on the city ring. Here I would like to be able to keep the map centered on the city area, not the car location. |

I only have whatever media is playing on the screen. I never have Nav/map showing...I've lived in this town 20 years and know my way around.
Seems like too much on the screen would be too distracting from the pleasure of actually driving the car.

Entertainment and Nav. Have HUD which is great for either. I'll switch around when using nav.

This used to be how I would think then I would sit in traffic and wonder why I wasn't taking full advantage of all these features. The traffic feature alone within the NAV has gotten me out of quite a few jams/accidents and I've lived here for over 30 years. I've also used it to check gas prices while sitting in BTB traffic but the phone is obviously faster using gas buddy or an equivalent. To each his own but it's certainly not taking away from any enjoyment sitting in traffic!

From page 182: Destination guidance with traffic bulletins General information Detour suggestions from the navigation system can be manually accepted in the semi-dynamic destination guidance. In the dynamic destination guidance, they are automatically accepted in the route guidance. Semi-dynamic destination guidance When traffic bulletin reception is switched on, semi-dynamic destination guidance is active. The destination guidance system takes the available traffic information into account. A message is displayed depending on the route, the traffic bulletins, and the possible detour routes. When there is a traffic obstruction, if possible, a detour is offered. The top part of the message displays: ▷ The symbol of the first traffic obstruction, including the distance at which the traffic obstruction first occurs, if applicable. ▷ The overall length of the traffic obstructions on the route. ▷ The extended driving time due to the traffic obstructions. The bottom part of the message displays: ▷ The recommended detour with the distance remaining until the detour starts. ▷ The difference in the route length compared to the original route. ▷ Time gained using the detour compared to the original route with the traffic obstructions. With the Professional navigation system: in addition to displaying the original route in white, the split screen also displays the detour. Accepting the detour "Detour" In the event of special hazards, e. g., objects on the road, a message is displayed without a detour suggestion.
