So who on this board plays Golf often?
Been playing since I was probably in my early teens, just not very consistently. I'm at the point in my life now where I can play about once a week and looking to improve. Bought some forgiving taylorMade irons two years ago and looking to get something a little more geared towards a middle handicap player. I don't hit my short irons as long as I used to, and I'm not totally sure why. My guess is I have slowed my swing down and it's not so erratic, so when I do hit them they don't go as far either.
Anyway, who here plays and enjoys the sport? |

Caddied when I was a kid and couldn't afford it. Been playing for about 12 years, semi regularly. I bought a set of Nike Covert forged irons a couple of months ago. Ball rockets off them. Very forgiving on off center hits. Handicap down 2 since, and i know it's not that I'm better. It's either the greatest or the stupidest game ever, isn't it?

I use to play a lot. After RA, I haven't played nor practiced for 5+ years.
I even have a golf swinging place with net set up inside my basement. As soon as it gets better, I am planning to start practice. As for a Golf clubs. i am a fan of PING irons. Anser,G,i,or S. I tend to lean towards i's. I still have i5, and TM R5's. |

Started late in the game (around 22) and have been playing for 9 years now. Got CGTF certified in 2008 and lowest handicap held was a 4. I play weekly but I don't keep a handicap anymore. I'll shoot from 75-85 depending on how hot the weather is or how drunk I am.
I use to love this game but have lost my passion to improve for several years. I find that I enjoy the game more when I care less about the score (hence the drinking). Good friends and a dozen or two beers and it'll be a happy day regardless. My gamer: Titleist 910 D2 w/ TourAD DJ-6x Titleist 906F2 15degree 3w w/Aldila NV s Titleist 910H 3H w/DI-8x Titleist 695CB 4-P w/KBS tour x ss 1 cycle Solus 4.1 in 51, 56, 61 been playing these since day 1 Scotty Studio Select Newport 2 Titleist Pro-v1-x I also have 3 other full sets for what I call "experimental" failures over the years. I just keep going back to my old school setup. Good thing is, I'm a recovering addict that has not bought clubs in the past 3 years.

I started to play on Monday's at the club I was a caddie during high school. I have continued to play and trend a 4 handicap. This year, I actually when to the Titleist Performance Institute(TPI) for a full bag fitting (minus the putter). The fitting experience was by the far the best money spent for golf. I no longer think about other clubs since I have exactly what I need. It is amazing being fit by the same people that fit the professional golfers. I was shocked by how much he could tell from the ball flight and trackman just confirmed what he saw from each shot.
When I was leaving TPI, a LPGA player stopped in (knew she was a LPGA player since they were discussing her travel plans for the next event). |

When my wife used to work weekends I would play every week but now I play once a year if I'm lucky. Last time I played was at the Shattuck in New Hampshire and I hit a hole-in-one on the second hole. I told myself I retired from Golf that day.
Funny story - When we were leaving we told the cart guy about it and he said I could register the HIO with the PGA and they would send me a certificate. I went on the website and it said it had to be a true round and not a practice round, meaning I had to use the same ball for the entire course. I laughed out loud because I was probably on my fifth ball by whole two and actually ran out by the 16th. Needless to say, my hole-in-one is not registered with the PGA.

I've been an athlete all my life.....
I can do everything sports related and I can do it fairly well..... I know for a fact I can do baseball at a scholarship level at least, so that accounts for something.... but if you told me that I'd win a 45,000sqft mansion on an island off of San Diego if could just hit a golf ball with a golf club in the air, I'd fail..... I've been playing baseball since I was 6 years old - there is NO WAY I can just up and change the way I swing a stick..... I've tried hitting a golf ball on 3 or 4 different holes at a golf course with my buddy back in 2002 - I'd roll over the ball on my swing - never got that fucking ball to go higher than 3 feet...... haven't swung a golf club in 12 years.....but I've been in the cages, I've taken grounders at 3rd base, I've spend countless hours in the gym hitting jumpers and I've thrown a football further than Uncle Rico..... eff golf...eff it all over it's stupid face..... |

Given the name, I'm sure you can tell that I don't play a lot of golf.
Played through high school and in to college, never had quite enough money to make it all the way past the mini tours when I was playing a lot and had to go and get a real job. I now hold a +2 and am able to play 3 to 4 times a week when I'm not in the end of quarter scramble (right now) which is when I only play once a week. I have more full sets of golf clubs than I care to count, from all manufacturers. Though I have played almost exclusively Titleist clubs since I was on staff with them. Golf is one of the few things I have left where I can go and play with some friends, have little to no stress and play for a few dollars. |

This thread makes me sad. I haven't made it to the links one time this year yet. I was planning on going for my birthday this weekend, but I'm not sure it will play out in my favor.
Last year I only got out twice. This truly is a first world problem. |

Golfing should also include a lot of alcohol and good friends with which to enjoy the terrible time you are having.

I just got fit for irons/driver and ended up with a Ping G25 driver (they are letting me use the demo until the G30 comes out, which should be soon) and Ping Karsten irons/hybrid combo, which are max game improvement irons that are supposed to be superb. They should come in Friday.

Been playing since I was 9... Dad put clubs in mine and my brothers had the same Christmas. We all go on a 4 day golf trip every year together. I play about 2 times a week at the country club i live on and am a member at here in Charlotte. We have 36 holes so a nice little variety. Also going to be redoing our North Course very shortly. South course was finished up in 2011.. 7,900 yards from the tips... longest course in NC
