questions regarding maintenance
recently just grabbed a f30 from the bmw dealership with low miles . Im not really sure how professional the dealership i went to was but im having my own suspicions lol. Should i be worried if they forgot to detune my car and change the spark plugs?
it seems like the previous owner did a tune and called it a day but honestly since its my first car i cant really tell the difference between stock and tune i do have plans to do some modifications soon but i want to get the check ups done before i do anything "i am still under warranty " Last edited by 3seriesf30; 12-14-2021 at 01:18 AM.. |

going to need a lot more info to help you on this one. what car? how many miles? why do you think it's tuned? why do you think it needs plugs? first car or millionth car you wouldn't be able to tell your car had a OTS tune without any baseline experience in the same vehicle.

Yeah this is so vague, what year is the car? Sounds like its a CPO if you still have warranty. Having the dealer do a software update is a good idea if you want to wipe any tune or coding, but IMO i would actually want to know IF the car had a tune, not just remove it if there was one...
The dealer should also be able to provide you with the maintenance history. If you ask for it, you can also sometimes get them to provide you with the more detailed info that the service department has access to, not just the stuff that shows up on Carfax for example. |

sorry for the late response i thought no one was going to answer a boring reliability question .its a fairly new car 2018 320 idk what type of tune this owner put but id rather spend extra on a new tune if it means keeping the car for longer

I don’t understand this. Why would they pay for a tune on a loaner? These sentences make no sense.

Would a tune make the 320 that much faster? Or is it a matter of perspective, based on the starting point of that car and engine on which the tune was added? I was just curious.

Loaners make excellent test beds.

Tune, test and forget when you turn it in. Makes sense.
