Remote control key is not detected or may be faulty?
I have a 2012 F30 with about 600 miles. There were a few times I have seen an error message, "The remote control key is not detected or may be faulty. Engine start is not possible" showed up on iDrive after I pressed the engine button. Anyways, I have my remote key in my pocket. This is weird since I do have my key with me and the car is able to start. I searched the forum but I couldn't able to find any info. Does anyone know or see this before?
Thanks so much! |

I know my buddy's X3 does this every time he puts the key in the cup holder, but I don't think its ever happened to him with it in his pocket.

It happens to me as well... I sometimes open the boot with the leg kick, it opens but the alarm sounds

Not (yet) happened (7 K Miles) until now. Remote key always in my pocket. Seems like RF transponders' sensitivity is too low. Better have it checked. The remote though has to be physically within the cars' door perimetry.
