Pro nav moaning

Was driving to Leicester square last night and my pro nav tried to send me down 2 one way streets (main roads) and repeatedly across Chinatown which has been pedestrianised for years. I have a 2013 dated map. Really not impressed as had to find the road I needed myself.

Rant over but I guess it shows you can't always rely on the nav. At £2000 that's disappointing!

Anyone else come across any sat nav howlers?

It can be down to the route criteria you have it set at sometimes....

Every sat nav I've ever had from Tom tom to Garmin, to Google Maps to Iphone maps to BMW sat nav has had missing roads or incorrect data on priorities etc... At the end of the day BMW buy this data in Navtec or whoever, same as everyone else.

I received this also, but guessing this is an upgrade for which they want payment

Thinking of phoning local dealer and requesting a free upgrade as my car isn't even 2 months old yet !

Registered on 21st Dec but just missed out on 2014 maps, disappointingly

I read somewhere that UK roads change by a fifth each year, mainly for new housing estates and roadworks.

As has been mentioned, here is the tomtom user!

But i'm not going to just say tomtom is better than pro nav, however if you tell me exactly where you you navigated from and to i would be interested to put it in my tomtom and see which route it would take?

Of the 10 times I've used the BMW sat nav since I've had the car, it's got me to the correct destination... ONCE! I've got 2013-2 maps and I think they are horrendous. Very disappointed so far.

If you press down on idrive controller then the two boxes with info disappear, press it again and they come back... are you maybe doing this inadvertently?

You naughty boy. What were you doing in Soho?

No one can keep with with the road changes in that area. I hate going there. Have not been for 3 years. It's such a mess. Your Pro Nav is an electronic condom and is trying to protect you. Be grateful.

I have always used Garmin and to be honest it is a TOTAL pile of crap. I am not even talking about its accuracy of routes etc. Although I have been sent down numerous laughable diversions off main roads to save half a second. I have even be sent up slip roads on Motorways and back down again onto the Motorway !! I am talking about the plethora of incoherent Garmin websites and web pages such as Garmin home , Garmin Express, Garmin UK, Garmin.com etc. that u get sent around and the need to CONSTATNTLY download Garmin 'Plug In' to get anything to work. Also, the total failure of it to EVER 'see' my Garmin device. It is utter rubbish and I fail to see how the BMW System could be any worse !!

This is one of "Each to their own" topics... I used a Tom Tom for years and went to Pro Nav across a variety of cars for the last 4 years, and I would never go back.
It always knows where it is, you can zoom in and out so easily, no need to plug it in, I can use google maps send to car, now it has RTTI, and I don't have any clutter or mess in my car, and nothing stuck to windows or the dash like Slough taxi driver!

I was in Soho dropping my wife off at a strip club. That doesn't sound good does it! She was on a hen do and being the gentleman I am I offered to drop her off and pick her up afterwards.

I know what you mean. We have a Qashqai too and the sat nav has only let me down once in 1.5 years. Also a Garmin 2595LMT which is outstanding. FYI, both notify you of speed cameras!!!

I'm having the 2014-1 update done by the dealer, I won't hold my breath though.

So not all built in sat navs are dodgy then! And i bet the qashqai's nav was a lot less than £2000!?

Whys this a pro nav only issue?

Business nav shares the same map set.

So cost is irrelevant.
