My 08 e90 was totaled
Doesn't look like it from the picture, but the the subframes are bent both front and rear. Had 6 new injectors, walnut blasted, new pulley, tires, JB4, pump flash, coded, scoops, grille, ugh. RIP

Insurance kicked in and now it's time for a new used. Im going for some F30 MPG's savings, but want my turbos and tuning abilities. I'm wondering if I can tune a 2012+ 335 hybrid or if it's worth tuning a 335d.

Can anyone enlighten me about tuning differences or preferences between the two? Are those platforms even worth it?

Before my e90 died I was about 350whp and 370tq.

Sorry about your car.

Only seen a few posts about tuning the diesel, but not the hybrid. Not sure you can get a 328i tuned for that much power, so might need another 335i for those #'s realistically and safely.

I don't see why it wouldn't be worth tuning a 335d...

AC Schintzer, Hartge and others do it.

ACS takes the F30/F32 to 360hp and 690nm (508tq).
Hartge takes them to 362hp and 730nm (538tq).

I've seen other tuning companies which take them beyond that as well...

The only thing you might be missing is the nice exhaust noise that petrol engines give you...

Unfortunately, we do not get the F30 in 335D form here in the US. Pretty sure you could tune the hybrid same as you can the regular 335, though.

The Hybrid weighs 250-300lbs more than the 335. And for that sacrifice in added weight......you get.....33MPG on the highway.

Wait? What?

The 335 gets 30MPG in manual form, that's 3MPG, (ture comparison the Auto 335 gets 32, a single MPG difference) are you kidding? The difference is 5MPG in city driving, but that's still stupid.

I won't get into the poisonous batteries and terribly short-sightedness of hybrid technology, I usually get hate mail when I point those out.

But why get the AH? You get a car with more weight, more systems to fail and you're benefit is less than 10% mileage gain? I gave up some performance to go with my diesel over the gas model, but at least I get 25% better mileage, AND when I load the car up my mileage doesn't drop from AC, passengers, and cargo like the gas, so the mileage spread gets wider and the performance gap narrows.

It really sucks that we don't get the 335d and that diesel tuning options are more limited. People need to realize the performance of diesel.

Sadly the cars suffered mechanical failure from racing accessories, BUT.....they were out there running with the big gas motors.

Anyway, to get that power level in the US you would have to go with the 535d.....413ft/lbs of torque from the factory BTW Should be able to tune that to 300hp or so while getting close to 500ft'lbs as well....BUT, it's a bigger platform, changes the whole dynamic, and more expensive.

So you're best bet is a 335i IMHO.
