Coding for a dummy
Having owned my car a couple of years now, 2015 330d, there are a couple of things I would like to change.
So far black grilles and a Royal Steering wheel refurb are as much as I felt the car needed. There a couple of thing that are slowly becoming annoying... I would like the car to remember my start/stop to be off and to remember my ventilation settings. I have done some searching and think I need to go down the route of ODB and Bimmercode but looking for a grown up to confirm this. Also the fact that fairly IT inept bloke can carry out such a task. I am sure if I start playing with Bimmercode there will be other bits and pieces, but if I can fix those 2 thing I would be happy. Or any other coding suggestion that I havent considered yet. For sure, if you want the easiest way to apply coding then Bimmercode and an OBD dongle all day long. It’s very simple.
Other things you can do: Media off on door open Puddle Lights on in reverse Angel Eye Brightness Heated Seat temps Digital Speed in Instrument Cluster Change idrive Startup logo Amongst others…. |

You need Bimmercode on your mobile and this dongle: https://www.amazon.co.uk/iCar-Pro-4-...%2C132&sr=8-10 That's what I use and it's faultless However; I've not been able to get my F31 to remember my ventilation settings even though I've set the coding to what I've read it should be But everything else I've done (start/stop off / brightness of the DRLs / mirrors folding/unfolding on opening/locking etc) all works and it's a cinch to do

Download BimmerCode and then you can run it in Demo mode. You will see just how easy it is and it should give you the confidence to have a go. It really is easy 👍🏻

I have coded start/stop permanently off and i did this via the Bimmercode app. There are many other features on the app you may find useful so you can have a play around to see what suits you.
In regards to the OBD device itself, i've tried a couple of them and the best one i have found that works faultlessly every time is this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes i have been using Carly for a long time but i have recently come over to Bimmercode as i felt Carly has gone to universal now with all makes and models.
You can also code in Cornering lights where your fog lights come on at low speed cornering. Once this is activated then your fog lights also automatically come on when you put it into reverse. You can change what front lights come on when you unlock it aswell. Also change the setting so that your Welcome lights will come on during the daylight instead of just night time. Set beeping to active when you lock and unlock the car. There is loads you can do. I have not used expert mode yet but i havent really looked into it. But i have heard there is alot more that can be changed. |

Hi All,
Been looking through loads of threads on Bimmercode and this one is pretty helpful, thanks! I had a question, what functionality does Bimmercode have as the free version? Is it pretty much required to purchase the full version (currently £49.99 on the app) to be able to do things like activate full screen car play through expert mode? |

And feck! It's gone up! I only paid £35 for Bimmerlink & Bimmercode; £24 for the dongle via Amazon (albeit that was quite a few years ago)

I don't know about the free version, but here is what Bimmercode can do - https://bimmercode.app/cars/f30/
It can do more in expert mode though, so long as you know exactly what parameters to use. Worth noting Start/Stop is re-enabled again if you use EcoSlow after coding it to off by default. And also worth noting, people have had warranty claims rejected from coding stuff that wasn't on by default. |

Well, it has really gone up then! It is £49.99 for bimmercode full version and the bimmerlink app in the app store is £39.99. Think it's still alright money though, the dongle I have my eye on is on amazon for about £38, there are some circa £20 ones that might be ok but making sure to get one that can definitely cover the G series and they tend to be a little bit more pricier. Still only around £90 all in though, happy with that! |
