Exclamation BMW Windscreen Washer Fluid (with antifreeze) Dilution Ratio

Hi, the mixing ratio on my 5 litre bottle is:

-11 °C, 1 part screen wash : 2 parts water
-21 °C, 1 part screen wash : 1 part water
-33 °C, 2 parts screen wash : 1 part water

In this weather, I was going to mix as per -11 °C but I asked my BMW Service Advisor and he said to mix 50/50 i.e. 1:1 to avoid any problems with the washer jets. Sounds a little overkill to me as it's nowhere near -21 °C but I guess he knows the BMW official line?

BTW, a few years ago I bought bottles of CarPlan screen wash on sale but then found out that it's best to stick to BMW to avoid sludge / gunk building up blocking the filters or the washer jets.

Thanks

BMW Service Advisor wants you to use more fluid so the make more money on you buying more?

I tend to do probably 1:4 during spring/summer/autumn and 1:1 in winter.

Although I've never bought BMW-branded fluids...just use the Prestone stuff from Costco.

Have always used Autoglym screenwash and have never had an issue in 9 years. Always mix it as 9 water to 1 screenwash.
Just bought 25Ltr of the stuff from a company on eBay for £75. That should see me through for a while!!

6:1 this time of year and 2:1 for over winter in our F31 - and when we're heading up to the Highlands, I just add a lot more neat into it and top up with what waters needed

Don't over think it; just do 4/5/6:1 for this time of year and it'll be spot on

Use any fluid you want really; the key is not to mix them as that's when gunk gets created and blocks the filters etc

Garage List
I personally use Sonax Xtreme Clear View in mine. Mixed 100:1. May use the BMW stuff when I run out.
