Buying a new car soon : Audi A4 vs BMW F30
Hi, i am currently in the situation where i must decide on a car to buy, I've narrowed it down to these two. The Audi A4 B8 or the BMW 328i F30 2012. Im looking for pros and cons, which has a better driving experience etc.
Thank you in advance Last edited by eKnn; 08-31-2011 at 09:48 AM.. |

For driving experience, a RWD 328i (with the sport package and manual transmission) will almost certainly be the most fun to drive. This is especially true if comparing with a FWD A4.
If the Audi is AWD and the BMW doesn't have the sport package, then it may be a toss up.

Given that the OP is talking about the F30, only a few BMW test drivers are likely to be able to answer this question. However, as the B8 A4 is much more fun to drive than the B7 A4 and the direction BMW took with the F10,including what appears to be a similar move with the F30, plus the usual first year problems BMW has, I'd go with the Audi if you need a car soon.
Of course you could hold out for the F30 and work a sweatheart deal on remaining E90 inventory. |

Audi is just BMW's little brother.
Get the Bimmer. Get it in RWD, Manual, and sports package is a must. <- buy this, and I garuntee you will not be disappointed. I have 3 friends with Audi's... nothing but problems. Grant it the new Audi's may or may not be better, but I have pretty much have convinced myself to NEVER buy an Audi. Ever. ... the A5's are kind of nice though.

The question is ridiculous, you're asking if a car that isn't even out yet is good. Wait until it comes out, test drive both cars, decide for yourself.

Based on my experience with the n20 engine in the X1, I'd go with Audi. Their version of the 2.0T is more refined, has a smoother, more linear power delivery and is better for mods (iron block).

The N20 in the X1 isn't even as well performing as the version in the Z4, upcoming 528i, and X3.

According to BMW, the engine produces the same hp and torque in all three cars. It may perform better in the Z4 because it's a lighter car, but the F30 won't be much lighter than the X1 (if at all). |

I have a E90 328i. From my experience I would go for the B8 Audi A4. I've had many problems with my car not tracking straight and pulling to the right. This seems to happen a lot with BMW's lately and most E90's I've driven have this issue. the Audi A4/5 and A6 I have driven did not pull at all. Just my two cents.

You can't just deduce as a rule that BMWs don't track as straight as Audi just from having driven your E90 and a few Audis.

This is either tire related, or alignment related...take it in...not a hard thing to determine/fix. |

I am speaking from Experience for basically all the E9X models I have driven. Mine does it, Best friends 335i E92 does it, My ex just got a 2011 E92 335i and it also tracks to the right pretty noticeable. I have had 2 new sets of tires, many alignments done by the dealership and it still pulls, so no, it doesn't seem like an EASY fix. And let me add that it is NOT the road because our X5 does not pull, Best friends wife's A4 and now a new A5 DO NOT PULL, even the Chevy Cruze I drove from work, DOES NOT PULL. The dealership has told me it's normal for E9X models to pull yet other cars do not? It's crap that BMW denies there is a problem when many E9X model do have this issue, as well as MANY people I have read on this Bimmerpost Forum that the F10 5-series, F25 X3, etc etc have the same issue.

Today I returned a loaner A4 s-line (auto) back to the dealership. This is just my subjective, biased opinion, but AUDI is NOT connected with a road, it's like playing a video game...response time is boat-like...there's a lag... I traded my 328i coupe for S5 and had regrets. Again this is just me... BMW=UDM...Can't wait to trade up to F32...
