What to expect during your first BMW service appt?
I know BMW recommends first service appt at 12,000 miles.
My F30 328i is already at 6,000 miles. I'm thinking of taking it in for service. Has anyone had it done yet? What services are performed other than oil change? Will they update the Auto Start-Stop default coding? |

first service is usually 15k i believe, your car will let you know when it needs service.

but seriously... Does anybody know what they will do on the first service? check the brakes right... tight the hand-brake (i dont like the term emergency brake) change the oil ? when i originally picked up the car, it would seem the first service will occur at 15K miles but now that i am well over 8000 miles, it's indicated/predicting a service at 12K miles instead (4K miles away) But at 6000 miles, the car already was asking for a topping off oil fill up. has anyone here had to take their car in for oil top off before the first service ? and do you know what oil they are using ? maybe i should but i am so lazy...

Well they actually don't have to check the brakes. The Brakes check themselves.
It's basically "inspection and oil change". so they drop your key in this little dodad, it says "cars doing great, but needs an oil change". and they do that. or it says "car needs x,y,z" and they do that.

They'll do an inspection, top off fluids, check the brakes, tires, etc.
I took mine in for an early oil change (4000 miles). I used that opportunity to complain about the auto-start-stop being rough and they updated the software in the car (after which I had to re-code my enhancements). That update was not the "default to last" mode retrofit, it was updated software. I don't know if they routinely check cars for software updates and just update them, or if they only do updates if you complain about something. If you ask, they should so the ASS default retrofit for you. The cost is covered by BMW. |

Per my BMW contact the light comes on 1800 miles before the "deadline". so a 15k deadline will illuminate the indicator @ 13200 miles. But I do also believe it's adaptive (it must be for ric's statement to be true)

Hmm... well, I'm new to BMW. I would think a premium car would get premium service. like cleaning/vacuuming interior, multipoint inspection, a foot massage, a dry martini while you wait... etc. maybe BMW not so premium after all. I hope the coffee is good. |

psssh, yea right....the people washing your car are getting paid minimum wage. They use the same towel and rags to wash/dry your car as the car before and the car before. It's not their car and they arent going to sit there to carefully wash your car with the 2 bucket method and frequently swap out microfiber towels constantly. Dealers have hundreds of cars a day go through and their job is to wash the car and do it fast so they can move onto the next. there is no way you are getting premium car washing service. they only way is to do it yourself.
