Quad Rear Diffuser - What do you think? (UPDATED)
So I'm really considering either purchasing an exhaust or getting one made from scratch and just curious as to what you guys think about the following setup. Cosmetically, instead of splitting the original exhaust tip into a quad setup I am considering adding another exhaust towards the center of the car. This way if you use the OEM diffuser you can keep the original curves that go around the sides of the exhaust.
Most likely going to get started on this either this week or next. If the results come out great we may replicate this diffuser. Don't mind the imperfections on the photoshop, did it in a few minutes. Last edited by Alex@ONEighty; 12-27-2012 at 07:37 AM.. |

Quads are meh. I say get the M Performance exhaust or wait for Remus to come out with a 335 option, they already have one for the N20.

I had one before (E92 335i) and it was heavy as sh*t and had lots of drone. There are tons of better options out there already or coming in the next few months. Akrapovic has started their development, but it's a bit pricey for most people. |

The pipes are too far away from each other. If you want to make a bold statement put the four pipes in line or real bold and do a tri-tip!

Why do you think quad exhaust should be designated for M cars? Seems that a lot of people who have had M cars think this but I haven't yet heard a good reason behind it. Not arguing, just wondering.
Looks good, esp with estoril blue |

With rare exception, quad exhaust indicates the ultra-high-performance line of cars. See Audi, Lexus, etc. Would you replace the 328i's 4cyl headers/exhaust manifold with one that had 6 or 8 pipes? |

I definitely see your point though. It isn't necessary. Also, exhaust is one of the most obvious ways to distinguish different models of the same series of car, so I do see how it could be deceptive. But I do think both the 328i and 335i aren't unworthy of quad exhaust. Both at the very least have a ton of potential. Would it still bug you if a 328 or 335 modded to have 330+whp had quad exhaust (this question is not meant to be rhetorical)? I mean, to most people it can't be denied that, regardless of what is under the hood, any car (especially these) looks better with symmetrical exhaust. |

It's the "quad" configuration, directly aping the M-cars that seems silly, to me. Especially when I see other versions where at least one of the four tips is not even connected to any exhaust pipe, just simply welded on!!! |

I personally love the quad setup for the look, regardless if M cars had it or not. @Sams mentioned Audi... they actually have quad setups on their S Line cars which are equivalent to 335i, 550i... and their RS line have larger oval dual setups, which I would probably also change to quad.
If your going all out and changing bumpers, fenders and badges to replicate an M, that's 1 thing, but changing an exhaust and maybe something else is simply preference. |
