I think they really ought to improve the tracking info on BMW's site. For example, "primer applied, awaiting first coat of paint" or "head of the line at the VDC."

Huh. So according to my CA even though website shows the car as being at the dealership, the car's actually STILL sitting in the port! WTF?! He says he'll definitely have it ready by Thursday.
He also said that the price might have gone up $500 or something cause of BMW credit changing? Which is bullshit cause I have a signed and dated order form with purchase price listed. SMH nothing to ruin a day like a) car being delayed AND b) having to fight for 500 bucks. |

Take a careful look at the order form and make sure there are no contingencies that would allow a price increase. I've read in other threads that, in some cases, taking delivery after a particular date can cause the loss of certain incentives. But it would seem to me if that sort of thing is not specified in the purchase order (and if there is no general clause that gives the dealer wiggle room), you ought to be in a good position to insist on the original price or walk and get your deposit fully refunded. Either way, sorry to hear it's not going so smoothly. |

Wow, the price increase does not sound right at all? Make sure you ask about that. I guess my car has cleared customs/VPC and its waiting for a carrier/truck to drive it to Buffalo. the ETA to Buffalo is tomorrow, Wed. Jan. 9th which is my CA's day off so I have an appt Thursday afternoon 330 to pick up car. I will certainly post pics when I get her. I have not driven an f30 yet so it should be fun.

Where is Swift Ace now?
All was going smoothly...finally arrived in NYC, progressed without issue to Baltimore, was heading full steam to Brunswick and then it fell out of range somewhere due southwest of Hilton Head. Hasn't been heard from in over a day since. What is the deal? It's not like those are the most treacherous waters or the busiest shipping lanes...so close yet so far.

Edit: Sorry I got lost here. I forgot this was the thread for the Swift Ace, so you already know about the blackout during the crossing. Still, I think the info you can get for free is limited to areas pretty much immediately offshore of the U.S. Last edited by gweeta; 01-08-2013 at 11:32 AM.. |

Dealer has given me an update, car will be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon, with grilles installed.
WW still shows last status as loaded on ship on 12/19/2012 lol. Will take a quick pic tomorrow with my phone, but will take better photos over weekend. |

C'Mon Already!
The ship was supposed to be in Georgia port on Monday morning (left Baltimore on Saturday)...it's now Wednesday and no sign of the ship. I'm telling you that if I lose the holiday savings, if they try to rework my trade in (which they said I could keep driving until delivery) or if my price changes one penny as a result of this slow ship from Africa...I'm walking. Their issue not mine. Love the car but not loving the perks of ownership thus far. Sheesh.

So yeah turns out pricing change isn't due to any changes in incentive or increase in base MSRP, my dealer just fucked up badly when he first gave me a price quote. I'm essentially getting wholesale/invoice corporate fleet pricing through my bank, and the price was supposed to be $**,645 after all the incentives, but when he first wrote it on the order form he wrote $**,465. This was compounded by a further mixup where BMWNA was originally offering $3,000 credit for corporate fleet sales, but that changed to $2,500 back in March 2012, but my bank apparently never bothered to update that on their site, and insisted the $3,000 was still in effect even though BMWNA has provided me with their internal memo stating the change in March. I'm currently dropping the whole typo on the dealers end thing (It adds up to about $200 diff after tax, and though technically I can insist on the original price due to the signed contract, I'm not gonna bust his balls and potentially delay my delivery for it), and going after my bank for the $500 diff in incentive cause they failed to update their site to match actual BMWNA numbers. |

My car is at the dealer. They are coding the ASS and I will have the car Friday.
Was beginning to wonder if the car had been damaged, given that many of your cars were already at the dealer or even delivered. I'm going to ask for the vehicle history report anyway. |

Doubt there was any issue with your car. From what I can tell, our cars were unloaded last Wedn, and I believe the majority cleared VPC Sunday night/early Monday. some of ones that cleared Sunday were shipped out then to dealerships, arriving there early Monday (only 1 person so far has said they took delivery on Monday). The rest that cleared Sunday/Monday were then shipped out according to the shipping schedules for each dealership. Mine arrived at the Manhattan dealership early Tuesday. Yours probably took a bit longer to leave the port, waiting for the truck.
