F30 - Rear Spacers on 19's
I want to add spaces to the rear wheels and lower with springs.
How thick of a spacer to make the rim almost flush with rear fender. I have the M sport package 19's. Which size would you recommend 5mm, 10mm, 13mm, 15mm,etc...? Who do recommend that makes the spacers for the F30? RE, H&R? Thanks for the help! |

Sadly, a 10mm spacer will not work on the F30 rear. The new hub lip prevents this. A 5mm spacer will work, but is simply not agressive enough to flush the wheel. A 15mm will work as well, but it "might" be too agressive.
I also have OEM 19" wheels (401 style). I actually tried a 10mm "tester" spacer (not hub-centric) for the rear and it looked perfect. I should've have taken a photo. It doesn't matter anyways because no one makes a 10mm that fits an F30 rear hub. The front will take any size just fine. H&R does make a 13mm for the F30. I'm 95% sure that it will fit on the rear and still clear with no rubbing. But I don't want to be the first one to try it. If you decide to do it, PLEASE post up the result here. |

Thank you for the response!
Number, are you saying they wont work or they just don't make 10mm spacer that fit the F30 yet? I'm going to call Rogue Engineering next week to see if they are working on something. I had their spacers in my 2007 335i and were a quality product. |

HOWEVER, there is a work around if you must go with the 10mm though. You can shave down the hub lip with a grinding tool. Just a mm or so will do. Then the existing 10mm spacers will fit fine (or so I've been told). Let us know what Rogue says. I'm interested in the H&R 13mm, but it's damn expensive for spacers with no bolts included. |

Ill call Rogue and see if they have something in development. If not I might go for the 13mm H&R. I'll keep you guys posted.
I'm also thinking about H&R sport springs. Super sport looks a bit to low. How much lower will the sport springs be over my M sport springs? Thanks |

Your best bet is always to measure properly for spacers. Everyone car is a little different, and everyone s idea of what's "right" or "fits" can be different. We put together a video explaining how to measure for spacers, I've embedded it below for you to view.

I have BMS 15 mm on the rear and turner motorsport 10mm on the fronts. I have the oem 19" 401's. When I first dropped the car they stuck out a bit too much but after driving for a few miles and it settled it was actually perfectly flush. I highly recommend it. I am on a sportline with Madaptive suspension. never comes close to rubbing.

Tomorrow i'm ordering H&R 10mm front & 15mm rear spacers for my M-Sport 335i with 401's. I originally wanted 10mm rear or 13mm but they only fit the front.
My concern is the factory summer tires stick out a lot past the rim. Do you think 10mm front/ 15mm rear will rub? I also plan to order H&R Sport springs which I believe drops the car .80 more than my m-sport springs. Any thoughts regarding the spacers? Will they rub when lowered? Thanks. |

I have 18's with a 20mm drop (M Perf Suspension).
I'm at the burgermotorsport page and they recommend: 12mm up front 15mm out rear. Has anyone tried this, seems pretty aggressive...will be running these with 18" 400's.

From what I know, nobody's tried it yet. There are some folks with 15mm spacers in the rear, but their cars aren't lowered. I contacted Burger a while back about the 15mm for the 401s in the rear; they said it would rub if you lowered it. The tires do stick out way past the rim.

I've done 15mm spacers on the rear with H&R sport springs. This is on sport line style 397 wheels - 8" ET34 with a 225 tire. Its pretty flush, rears rub when you corner aggressively.
The 400s obviously are 1/2" wider with 255s, but you have more offset to play with - ET47.

You mention the ET47 on the 400's helping, does it bring the rim closer to the hub? I'm not sure I want to spend $200 experimenting..ironically, my concern was actually with the 12mm's up front. Any thoughts on that?

I've not used spacers on the front, but would be reasonably confident 12mm will work. Of course we're talking mm's here, so obviously the tire and its sidewall play a big role.

No worries, you made a good argument for getting the M perf suspension. My kit is on the way.
