Why would you want to return the lease with the performance exhaust? Pay for install and put back the stock muffler and sell your performance exhaust

Posted a dedicated thread for the question, but thought I'd ask here as well: What is the sound like in the cabin when cruising at 50+? Does it affect the ambient noise much in those situations? I'd like the car to stay quiet until I get on the accellerator...

It is quiet. I always have to open the windows to try to hear the sound lol When you're not on the gas, you can't hear it at all.

Got it installed today, have only driven a couple of hours yet. At first I thought it was too muted, since it's barely noticeable at higher speeds or at low rpm's. But it definitely gives the engine note some character, shifting and revving has become more fun since the engine (finally!) can be heard. And the car seems much more responsive at highway speeds at 2000-3000 rpm.
As it is I won't feel ridiculous driving a car that's too loud. If the exhaust had been any louder I might have. So far I'm happy I with the modification! |

love your M exhaust, btw, do you know the width/diameter for the tips? are they 76mm each or 80mm? do you notice any difference ( sound louder? ) after the break-in period? thanks!

Thanks! I think they are 80mm and it does get louder after the break-in period. But overall it's still pretty quiet. Cold start, it is loud but quiets down after a minute or so. Windows up, quiet but can hear some grunts if getting on it. Windows down, you can hear it, but it's still not too loud.

Got mine installed today. Sound is just right. Not too loud and not too quiet. The important thing of this exhaust is that there is NO cabin drone whatsoever! PERFECT. Chugster, mine still smells new/burning. How long till break in?

Got mine installed today as well. The increased aural "cues" really make the car much more fun to drive. Coming off an STi with a much more aggressive Invidia exhaust, this is obviously much more subtle - but very much suited to this car, and easier to live with on a daily driver.
Cheers!

Be interested in others testing this as well and reporting back - I've noticed that when I use Eco Pro mode the overrun pops from the exhaust when decelerating are more pronounced and frequent than when I'm in Sport mode.

i'm waiting for someone to put a sound clip of downpipe with the m performance. I would do it if cobb has a tune out and I would then get protuned with it... don't feel like using JB tune as of right now so i'll have to wait...

I wouldn't say PERFECT, i'd say it's a bit too quiet. And the only time I can get pops is in a parking lot accelerating and letting go of the gas in 1st gear. Otherwise I can't hear the pops. So to answer your question, the eco pro thing shouldn't deter you. You're not gonna hear the popping in normal driving whether you're in eco pro or sport. Just those little grunts when you push the gas, and a slightly more pleasing overall tone.
That being said, i love the pops, I hope it'll pop more with a DP. Any DP's paired with M Perf yet!?!?!? |

Perfect inside the car. Outside we would need a video or someone else driving to really tell if it's that much of a difference, but from the videos here, there is def a difference. It will probably sound PERFECT with a downpipe. Let's see who will be the first one.
