Exhaust Recommendations
Help.
I'm not happy with my OEM single pipe on my 420d and want to upgrade to something more aesthetically pleasing. My old 320d had an oval profile and was substantially bigger, which looked proportional to the rear end. The 420d single pipe is horrific. I've been toying with the dual and twin options and wondered if anyone had any experience with either upgrade. I've seen a couple on here, but none that were engaging enough for me to consider. Thanks. |

This is the one I would go for if you want OEM.

Not sure if this is doable on the 420. But I wouldn't see why not. I put the 435 system on my 428 along with the M-Perf diffuser. See my tread below. There are a lot of other members who have done this. Search around and you may find one on a 420. Good luck!

If it's just aesthetics you're looking to improve then you can get the M Performance twin tailpipe. Not cheap for a tailpipe but a hell of a lot cheaper than a whole new exhaust.

And you can then rationalize buying the m perf diffuser to match. |

Back box was £185 eBay. (OEM off a 235i) Diffuser was £60 eBay. (OEM off a 435i) £100 to fit at exhaust a fix, Darlington. I'll take another photo of it on properly in the light. yes, I know it isn't a 435. Yes, I don't care if it brings nothing to the table other than aesthetics. Yes, I would prefer the 435i but the depreciation on mine against what I paid was not worth the upgrade. Hope this helps people who are like minded. |

I changed my single exhaust tip with the M Performance exhaust tips and i'm very happy with how it looks! The tips are bigger than the original single tip (84mm) so it looks a lot better. Should've been like this stock!

Took ages to get around to it, but here it is. I love it and a few of my mates who have BMW's are thinking of following suit.
So, the upgrade is doable with probably any OEM back box! |
