That's the one I'm intending to install as it's 100% plug and play. I'm just struggling to find a decent subwoofers that would perform well with that amp. |

High pass setting for OEM underseats
I have an 2018 F31 with HK/Logic7 system
For the moment just going to use the BMW amp output to underseat subs to power 2nd amp (via LCI converter). 2nd amp will then power underseats & 12" in boot (trunk). Any thoughts on what frequency to set high-pass filter for OEM underseat subs? |

"The underseats are good down to 60Hz..." good as in: a) have a response? or b) respond well? My assumption (likely borne of ignorance) is; the less I give the underseats to do: the happier they'll be So maybe my original question should have been: what frequencies (range) do they handle best? |

Speaker Advice Needed
Hi All
Been reading all of the posts, I have a 2017 4 Series F36 with Harmon Kardon Speakers (I believe these are called HK). - I believe the recommendation is to leave the HK Speakers and Tweeters in place - correct? - I need to purchase 2 x 8" 'Earthquake' subs at 2 Ohms - correct? Are there any alternatives or equivalents for the UK Market that sound as good but are cheaper? - I understand that I need to purchase AudioControl ACM-2.300 AMP which will be used to power the 2 x 8" subs. My original Harmon Kardon AMP will remain in place, and I simply add this additional AMP by buying a cable splitter - correct? Are there any alternatives as the AudioControl ACM-2.300 is around £360+ in the UK. Again, is there anything else cheaper that will perform to the same standards? - Alternatively, do I buy Match UP 7BMW and remove the Harmon Kardon AMP altogether? I understand that the Match UP7BMW is a directly replacement and is more refined and powerful? Is that correct? Will it still drive the 2 x 8" subs? - Out of both AudioControl ACM-2.300 Vs Match UP 7BMW - Which is better for my needs considering I will be remaining with the Harmon Kardon speakers and tweeters? Please note - I will also be replacing the standard BMW screen with an Android 11 Screen (Although I don't think this matters does it?) Appreciate any advice Last edited by Sanjayo1; 06-09-2022 at 10:03 AM.. |

Hi,
Some answers here and there. I believe that the Matchup 7BMW is not primarily designed to be an upgrade from the HK option. According to the manufacturer's 'Upgrade finder tool' (http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/ma...e/adapterIndex), you would have to purchase an additional module to achieve the proper integration with the (digital) HK system, namely SDMI25. The matchup 7BMW amp is only a direct remplacement (Plug& play) from the Hifi option amp. Under the hypothesis that you manage to correctly connect it to you existing system, it will be definitely able to feed the upgraded subs, even better than the stock HK amp does. Which is basically a major point of the upgrade. Coming from the HK, you should probably consider the Matchup 10BMW, which is more dedicated to the upgrade from the HK option : Same output power but more channels, and maybe also a better integration with HK digital interface (to be checked). Check out, there is dedicated topic on the forum. |

Yes, that would probably be a major step up.
As for connection and setup, you can browse the topic I was referring to above, which I found again: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1879008 (I incorrectly wrote 'Matchup 10BMW'. The correct name is Matchup 10DSP. There doesn't seem to exist both 'BMW' and 'DSP' versions of the device, as it is the case for the "7") The forumer jmciver did a very nice install on this F80 with HK, and posted many details and pictures on the said thread. |

Hey folks
Sorry to revive an old thread but wanted to ask if the AudioControl ACM-2.300 LOC/Amplifier is still the ideal option to pair with the Earthquake sub upgrade? I just picked those up to go in my HK system and need to decide on the amp now. Open to any suggestions! |

Hey Billfitz ,
Sorry for the cross-platform posting, but those FaitalPRO mids - any input on getting them into my F10? I was at 676 HiFi, now have a Match7 untuned and Earthquake SWS84X's will be here in a few days. One of my front mids is gone (2013 car) so I wanted to take the time to replace all 4 mids (center is DC'd) and tweeters. Do you have a tweeter reco in line with the "gets your motor running" train of thought as with the Faitals? |

Might just be simpler on me to grab some HK drop ins and call it a day. However, if there's a truly tangible difference to my ignorant ears that I'd be missing out on, I'm glad to find a way to make the adaptations to your recommendations so they'll fit.

Loading the Faital Pro is easy enough if you're an expert at this. If not you should reconsider it. I see no advantage to swapping out Hi-Fi for HK, or anything else for that matter. I'd only go to something else if my OEM drivers needed replacing because they were damaged, and the Faital Pro would be high on my list because they're good drivers that are reasonably priced.

The main difference between Hi-Fi and HK is higher power handling. HK sounds better because of the adjustable EQ in the amp, not the speakers. The easiest and probably least expensive option is to buy a used Hi-Fi mid or two from someone who fell for the hype and replaced theirs with 'upgrades'.

Bill, is hifi tweeter better or worse than the HK tweeter? I wonder if i should upgrade all my hifi speakers to HK. I am not in a hurry and can wait for the right deal to buy the set if necessary but only if the HK is indeed better than hifi.
I already own match up7bmw and bought the jbl tweeter for the rear and earthquake for the underseat as you recommended Thanks. |

I realize the futility of this question, but any resources you recommend for tuning the Match7? I've taken an interest in this world of audio and want to pursue the tuning in a dedicated manner. know that I understand I am asking the audio equivalent of "how do I learn brain surgery" here... |

This is adequate for a quick and easy look at what a system is doing:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....audioanalyzer Use the Spectrum Analyzer function, C Weighting, Slow Weighting. You can use a pink noise CD for a source, but there's no need for that. Pink noise replicates typical music content, so real music content works just as well. Without seeing frequency response, polar plots and THD measurements for both there's no way of knowing. But there's no reason to expect it to be the case. Neither is a five dollar piece of kit. |
