BMW 440i Power Loss
Hello everyone,
I have been experiencing power loss on my BMW 440i 2016 with the B58 engine since yesterday. The following key data to understand. 130,000 km YEAR OF MANUFACTURE 2016 MHD Stage 1 on 102 octane RON For 1 week I have felt fluctuations when driving (felt as if you were constantly driving over bumps). I then logged my data with MHD and realized that my VANOS actuators were gone. So I ordered new ones and painfully replaced them. After that, the fluctuations were gone and according to MHD, VANOS is running great again. The only thing I noticed after the replacement were three errors when reading out the data. DME active codes: 130715 VANOS solenoid valve intake: Camshaft jammed DME shadow (inactive) codes: 132201 VANOS solenoid valve intake: Collector error 132301 VANOS: Collector error Error deleted and since then no new error message in the control unit. After changing the actuators, I noticed when accelerating that the performance is weaker than before. So it feels like the car sometimes can't build up any boost under full load and therefore accelerates without turbo. I don't know if it's maybe due to the sealing rings of the actuators and the system is therefore drawing air or if it's something else. Here is my log drive for approx. 5 min with a few full load moments. https://datazap.me/u/palica99/log-17...og=0&data=5-25 I hope you can help me here before I have to go to BMW and he sends me away because there is no error code. Thanks |

no, i didnt reset the vanos adaptions. BMW says that after the replacement of the actuators you dont need to reset the adaptions.
But i think it is worth a try. What do i have to watch out for when i reset the adaptation? |

Suggest you do a proper log to start with. This will allow us to see if there are any abnormalities caught there. The log you provided is unusable.
This is how to make a proper log: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1648722

Make sure you start WOT at about 2500 RPM (not earlier) and keep 100% throttle up until about 6500.

I dont know i feel like after the replacement im missing at least 50hp and around 50-100 newtonmeter. After the Pulls i realized that i have low torque around 2000-3500 rpm. After that the boost kicks in. What causes the load beeing higher then requested? And can my evap valve cause a loss of power? |

Yes, but it is extremely rare to see matching fuel octane and OTS map run so clean. The Aral Ultimate is also known to not always be as good as one hopes and usually the 102 OTS map is more aggressive than the fuel, forcing many to still add E to have it run so clean.
I've never seen such a clean log on pure Aral RON 102 in my car (on a 102 RON map), although I must admit I have always used it on Stage 2 or Stage 2 HPFP, never Stage 1.

I just wrote MHD and then confirmed that the map and the log is flawless.
So no problems and i have full power and torque. the 500Nm in the log is to dismiss, because of the fact that MHD scales the torque down so that the TCU dont go into limiter. So everything is alright. Thank you all for your help! |

You don't need to be on Stage 0+ until you get xHP but it explains the low reported torque values. This will change once you have xHP.
It does not really matter in what order you do things but ideally first xHP then reflash MHD.
