It's part of the Stop/Start function.
IIRC, it's actually READY and OFF READY means the engine has shutdown as at a traffic light but is ready to re-start automatically when you take your foot off the brake (or depress the clutch). OFF means really off, you need to press the START button to start the engine. |

The 2011.5's have it, and the primary indication that the car is equipped with the feature is the button below the head unit.

I'm glad a bought a 2011 335i xDrive M Sport when I had the chance...built 12-16-11 and delivered to me on 22 Dec. May be my last 3 series...I'm not liking all the "versions"...but everyone will have their own opinion!!

+1, I bought a 2011 328i xDrive Exec/Prem-s on the same date for the same reason. Just do not like the F30 at all. To me the new 3 is nowhere near the quality of the current E90, IMHO.

i had a chance to see four series 3 today at car show.did not post pictures as models were the ones already presented. looks good, classy, bimmer... not the most original or modern design but fine.
i recommend you have a look if possible at interiors before ordering as visual impression can differ from pictures. i did not like at all the saddle with the lower dashboard in marron.. looks very oldy.. that s personal opinion .. white paint suits well the car. as for quality, fine but some details could have been improved.. the doors seems light and you lack this solid feeling when opening or closing. leather quality is suboptimal as in series 1.. pitty. But overall, quality is better than in the one with better plastics in lower parts of the cockpit. sports line looks good. i liked it.. |

Is it just me or is this already mentioned?
In the line comparison shots, looking at the rear ends, the sport line looks entirely different than the other two. In fact the other two lines's rears look just like the E90's. |

Could not agree more, IMO they have made a turn in the wrong direction.

This is a stupid move by BMW. Before BMW's you were able to choose the exterior ad interior colors on how you specifically wanted your car to be built. Now if I want a sport model I can't choose a saddle brown interior and wood trim on a sport model isn't available? They as just poppycock that a car in this price range is now limited to how you can color combine it. Bad move BMW very Bas move.

If you don't select a line, your only choices are beige or black for the interior. In the confingerator, if you select any other color it automatically selects the corresponding line. And as everyone is saying, you can't mix and match. How is that giving you more *choices* when your choice automatically selects a bunch of crap you don't want??

BMW has finally come up with a great car that enters the 'bang-for-buck' conversation.
Yes sir, I'll take a M-Sport 328i to go please. Heavy on the increased HP and torque and light on price increase (a few hundred, if that?). Thanks. |

I will be ordering an M-Sport once it is available to order. I'll then be selling that when the M3 (or whatever it will be called this time) is available to order. I'm really looking friars to owning the new 3.

This is a vastly absurd bastardization of what is supposed to be "the people's BMW." Compartmentalizing customers into three, mostly aesthetic limitations takes away from that original philosophy. I want the sport line's exterior and dynamics with the luxury line's upholstery choices and the modern line's interior trim choices. There seems to be no actual cost-benefit for BMW to create this imbecile option structure. I don't feel cheated of my dollar, but I'm confused if BMW remembers what it does well...
