Obd port security and locks

Having read the scary threads on here and scaremongering in the press was wondering does any one know if the previous vulnerability via the obd has been sorted

Also heard that one can fit OBD port locks to prevent unauthorised OBD Access but can't find anything listed - tried eBay etc etc.

Any one know of any suppliers

Thanks in advance

My understanding is now the original key has to be present to programme a blank key via the OBD port.

I have not seen a port lock, but I've seen the OBD port moved, leaving a unconnected port in its place.

Edit: here is a thread on disabling the port

And another (a long one but some good stuff buried in here )....

I have heard of E9x owners successfully relocating port.

However, for the majority of owners, they don't really want the hassle of the thieves 'asking' for the keys.

A friend of mine was burgled on Sunday night / morning, both he and his wife we asleep in bed. Stole cash, iPad, however left his iPhone 6 and his Passat.

Personally will just take my chances.

Appreciate what your saying - don't want to put your nearest and dearest in the firing line for a hunk of metal covered by insurance and hopefully decent GAP. Policy

I sort of have a foot in that camp, and also in the make yours harder and they'll move onto an easier target. Obviously with premium cars like ours they will attract the more professional and determined oxygen thieves

Couple of years ago we had some thefts on our estate both neighbours cars were affected luckily mine -a Volvo wasn't touched I'd like to think the autolok and bullock pedal lock helped !!!

Still a great believer in the Bullock.

Yeah Sandra is formidable

I have a disc lock, someone I had with my E91.

My brother in law caught some twat trying to steal his car, grabbed them, locked them in coal shed and called the Police. Apparently you can lock someone in a coal shed etc.. Shocking really

As you are likely aware, around here been a few car jacking a lately, that's actually more of a worry when wife has the car, admittedly bring Scottish, she is more inclined to knock them down

I'd rather they take my car whilst my family are peacefully asleep and oblivious to what's happening.

That's what £230 of GAP return to invoice insurance is for.
