So,,,what marque next?
BMW has killed off (in the US) each of the most recent models I’ve owned: 3GT, 3 wagon and 6 convertible. Guess I’ll be shopping elsewhere, next time.

I’m planning on considering the X3 before looking elsewhere...probably in X3e configuration. First road test reviews are too good to ignore. The i4 doesn’t arrive soon enough. Might see the Polestar 2.

The guy at the shop I take my car too had an older panamera ('05 or '06 maybe even a '10) but he said they were more trouble than they're worth. What's your opinion? After I got the gt I did look at the panamera and began to like it. As far roomy and spacious I liked it, not crazy about the split rear seat in the back on some configurations. But the wing is deployable at any time like on my gt which I also like. I think bmw should definitely continue the gt as it would catch on, just produce smaller number and make it a niche vehicle imho :

The Panamera has the three things that sold me on the GT: rear seating that is actually comfortable for adults, and a trunk that is equally spacious, in a high performance car, not an overweight behemoth SUV. What I'll get next I can't say, but that's probably six years off, so I'm not going shopping yet. If it was today I'd be looking at a Tesla 3.

Don’t let me near any cars y’all are considering. I’m obviously a jinx.

I would disagree after suffering through a 2016 A6 3.0T Prestige (essentially the same car) for about two years before dumping it based on product quality and lack of customer support from AoA. Don't fall for a pretty face.

The model S is actually a bit comparable to the 3gt. The rear isn't terrible but the cargo space seems almost as worthy in the hatch. There's also a frunk! Hoping our next car will be a Tesla a few years down the line. Possibly a model Y.

If you want a BEV, there will be a variety of choices from companies who know how to design and assemble vehicles from decades of experience...not beginners under a tent. BMW i4, X3, Polestar 2, Mercedes EQC among others. If you for some reason feel you want to buy from Tesla, at least wait for a full product cycle to replace current first-try models. Tesla does have a great powertrain (as others will likely emulate or surpass) but can't help but recall the technical review of the Model 3 body by one tear-down expert who said it had all the technical sophistication of a 90s Kia. Note that Consumer Reports no longer recommends the Model 3 simply due to poor quality, scoring an evalution of 2 on a 5 point scale.

I had a 2017 Tesla Model S and loved the versatility of the hatch. I had a lot of problems with my car (it was a new custom order) and decided to get a 2018 Audi S5 sportback because again -- I liked the hatchback styling. The S5 was great but just a bit small and vanilla. Prior to the Tesla, I had an F80 M3 and miss BMW, so I bought the 3GT because it was super cheap and I liked the utility of it. I would have gone back to another F80, but I needed AWD for our vacation house up in the snow.
I've already plotted my next car. It will be an M550i. |

bmw next. Despite mega hate for the gigantic grill on the x5 i will change my f15 for the new version replacing my 30d with a 50d to compensate for the cosmetic deficiency of the new X5.
As for the 335d 3GT the mix of performance and economy and practicality is too good no plans to replace it. If at all i do in the future has to be x3m40d |

Sorry to try to revitalize an old thread, but what are people going for next? My 340 GT lease is expiring (moment of silence). I'm having a very tough time finding a similar combination of performance/handling, rear passenger space (i.e. 3 car seats), and trunk space at this price range. The lease terms were equivalent for the standard 3 series sedan (62% residual!!) So it was just an incredible value. I can't find anything that comes close. X3 maybe, but it's smaller. X5 would work, but it's so much more expensive. Tesla Model X or S also too expensive. Audi A7 is too small AND too expensive.
I can't find anything.... |

The x5 is super comfortable and handles comparably to a stock 3 gt which is unbelievable but true. I have the optional 3rd row which gives me 2 extra seats for ferrying kids friends if required and that option also gives rear air suspension which is so comfy. |

I plan on keeping my GT at least five more years, so I doubt I'll replace it with anything currently available, and there's no way to anticipate what might be out there come 2025. All I can say for sure is that it won't be an SUV. The GT might not be the most attractive car ever made but at least it doesn't look like a toaster.

I just got my 2016 GT last year so considering I came from a 2006 TL, I'm probably good for at least a few years. I would like to see Honda/Acura or Mazda make a successor to the GT although I doubt anyone will. I test drove a very lightly used 2018 Buick Regal Sportback that I could have purchased for not much more than the GT and it checked all the boxes (AWD, hatchback, etc), but I just kept thinking "you're going to drive a Buick?". Honestly I was fairly impressed with the Regal, but I just don't think anyone wants hatchbacks.

I forgot the 2020 x5 x40i have a 3rd row option... With 3 kids it might be worth it. Just wish it were cheaper or had more favorable lease terms! |
