330e and B48 cold use and turbo cool down?
Hello, I have a 2017 330e and love the car, really, it's awesome.
But because of the hybrid nature of it I noticed a few recurring situations that in a normal Turbo petrol would be a no no, for example: 1. It's very easy to just open up the engine (while cold) and start driving at motorway speeds (e.g. driving on electric to get out of town, then flooring it once on the highway) - the engine goes from totally cold to 70+mph, you wouldn't do it in a 'normal ICE car'. 2. Same about cooling, you can go fast on the motorway, get off it, once you slow down the electric engine starts working (ICE cuts out) and you could park with the ICE being hot and not 'driven or idling' a bit to cool it. I wonder what effect this will have on the engine if this is an issue at all? |

I recently read about turbos and stop/start so I’ve now disabled stop/start on my car. Read that the car is supposed to know but I came off the motorway after doing 75mph for around 20 miles to a stop and the stop/start feature cut the engine straight way which I thought it wouldn’t/shouldn’t do?

You can put it in a mode where the engine is running all the time to preserve range on the battery initially until you get on the highway if you're planning on doing that as the software isn't aware of what you're going to do based on how you're driving.

What i usually do is to swith the transmission to S (sport) and that cancels the auto start/stop. But i've been wondering the same thing as the OP. |
