Did a silly thing (blaming Tengo)
So after the numerous debates this year regarding how much is too much power, what’s the ideal ‘do all’ car, X3 3.0d great all rounder, X4 M40i plenty of go but too big for me, trying to convince myself that a g21 320d would do it for me (lasted a few weeks) followed by an XC40 which lasted 3 days, I came to the conclusion I wanted off the pcp merry-go-round (for the time being anyway).
Realistically I would have wanted an m340i or something like that but I just don’t like blowing +£5-600 per month on a car repayments. So, man-maths methodology.... a bank loan with monthlies well under £300pcm to find a fun car as well as a practical, comfortable dog wagon is the current plan. Naturally I prioritised the fun impractical car first (will start the search for an Octavia/Mondeo box over the weekend). This was delivered earlier this morning. Definitely not as quick as Terry’s but will still bring a few smiles, once I’ve re-mastered the entry/exit process |

Very nice Masters level man maths, swapping one car for two, of which one is a Lotus, and claiming it saves money....
But all credit to you, one life, live it! I cant get in the damn things but hear they are marvellous..... Last edited by isleaiw1; 11-13-2020 at 02:08 PM.. |

I'll take that blame quite happily!
Looks great, and I think you'll find it really does save you a whole lot of money.... minimal depreciation and low running costs even if you run it on track. Trying to have one car to do everything is very difficult if it needs to span proper driving fun and family duties. Do you do track days?

You won’t regret it. Mate has a 250 Cup as part of a rather extensive garage of cars. He’s now saying he’s likely off the supercar merry go round as he says in most situations the likes of the Elise, Megane Trophy R etc that he has are more fun. High praise given some of the stuff he has / had and for someone who has done over 300 laps of the Ring this year alone.

Thanks all, have been for a short essential drive this morning and happy with the decision. I’ve taken the hardtop off as it was a pita for getting in and out of so it’s softtop only or no roof and warm hat from here on out.
It’s ‘only’ the S model which has the base Toyota 134bhp engine but in all honesty, it’s still a hoot. Car is now filthy but they’re there to be driven so not too bothered. Might do a track day Tengocity, Snetterton is my local circuit and the previous keeper just replaced the brake discs, pads and tyres so would be rude not to when things are back to normal next year |

On a bitter Perosnal note I feel Andy's getting away with daylight robbery here. Zero abuse for serial car changing.

I think he gets away with it as he throws in 3 cars at once and generally when he is introducing a nice new motor...
You need to practice your technique better! Although if Andy didnt swap his car so often he could probably have bought a new Evora outright with the money he saved.... (Better?) |

Very nice.
I don't currently have the time or money for a dedicated track / fun car, but if I did, an Elise would be top of my list |

Congrats - I regret selling mine. Even back in 2007, I sold it for 1.5k more than I bought it
