1:18 ?
Please someone tell me I'm nuts but did Bill A. do a 1:18 lap? It sure looked like it. That's impossible.
Jeff Tyler in a Time Attack prepped E92 335 with full track setup did a 1:41 something. Max Angelelli? did a 1:49 in the previous stock 335 in 2006/2007. Something seems fishy here. |

When I first heard the 328, I was like "man, this car sounds great!", but then I heard that N55... Just WOW! Inline 6 FTW!

Here's a fun fact.
Let's say you love the 335i but are afraid of the cost compared to the cheaper 328i. Also, let's say you like having a moonroof, xenons, etc. Well, once you add the packages that allow you to have the same goodies that the 335i has as standard, well, you are now only 1-2K below the 335i in price. So, if you really like the sound of the I6 and you enjoy xenons, surely you can say that the N55 engine is worth 1-2K. |

If there is one car which is overrated in my country(price/specs) versus the 335i E90 N54 335i I came from back then, it's a 6MT E90 M3. I don't do trackdays every day of the week..... |

I don't understand why BMW NA prices cars on top of other models that they make... Loved both videos, especially Joey Hand. |

Jason, did you by any chance get to ride with Bill in the M3? If so did you get a video? I'd love to see those guys flying around Laguna Seca in an E9x M3!

Having had an E92 335 for 5 years now, I have to say that I was taken by Joey Hand's saying the 328 is noticeably sharper and more agile than the 335. Makes sense given that the weight difference is now almost 200 lb. This is leading me to think that there's an F32 with the 2L turbo in my future. I love my N54, warts and all. But given the lure of better mileage, more agile feel, lower cost, and lighter weight, the 4 pot is making more sense than ever for a new car. I love the sheer power of my car, but have to admit I almost never use it. And it's most likely that the coupe will already have the things I need like standard Xenons, sport suspension, etc. Looking good. Now for a preliminary test drive of the sedan and some serious financial planning.

On the other hand, tried a 1//M and the E90 M3 felt like a boat.(N54 ftw LOL) We don't want to have much weight up front, but we also want power and a good sound, don't we? (BMW is trying to get their weightbalance 50/50, better take a look at Corvette or the Ferrari 599 for that matter....) |

Fact is, the whole F30 is not as light as BMW wants us to believe, both 328 and 335..... And Joey Hand is a BMW ambassador 100% pur sang, mentioning the thing YOU(and others) want to hear.No worries. Call it marketing... Just like the last few months there were ONLY 328s and 320ds for car journalists to testdrive and(almost) no 335i. Just think about it. Corvette and the 599 have a 'mid front engine' layout so to speak. The best layout/design after a mid mid engine design like a Boxster or many Ferraris have. But I know BMW is a middle of the road luxury brand, not exotic and pricey enough. I'm happy it still is rwd, thank God EDIT: according to this sheet(somewhere else on this forum) the difference between a 328i A and a 335i A is 60kgs(132.3 lbs) That's not 165 or 200lbs, neither it is 110lbs but it's not far what I mentioned before...fwiw. Sorry. And both the MT's have the 165lbs difference. I think the autobox will be more popular atm, but I'm not sure.... http://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesfor...nical-data.jpg Last edited by Robin_NL; 02-03-2012 at 08:38 AM.. |

Yeah, after I typed that, it turns out to be closer to 3K (about 2.5+K). Still though, you would think that there would be a wider margin.
