Rest in peace. While in Malaysia. Even if u bumped into d truck. Its still u fault because whoever bumped into d back of other vehicles, he or she is at fault. Doesnt matter u rest in peace or rest in pieces.

Considering the truck was also moving on the same direction the BMWs speed must have been at least 110mph or higher. This kind of crash is not even tested at crash test facilities, there is no crash absorption here at all by the front bumper (see front bumper and front wheels are very intact ) but only by the windshield, pillars and the roof that are not ideal nor designed to absorb high speed front impacts. If the truck had some kind of lower bumper the outcome would have been different. |

This is a terrible piece of news. Neither can I understand why they decided to do high speed tests on a public road when they have so many racetracks at their disposal...

So sad for everyone who was actually involved in this. Both drivers, their families and friends, the emergency services...

I use the autobahn everyday to commute to work and I see it happening all the time, trucks purposely cutting you off as soon as they see you approaching at high speeds. 9 time out of 10 are always drivers from eastern European countries such Romania and Bulgaria. No wonder the highest accident and mortality rates belong to those countries. |

I have seen this type of accident frequently as I work at an insurance company. You guys need to realize how frequently this happens in the United States.
http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr030111.html In the US this can happen even at 35 miles per hour. This has nothing to do with car manufacturers. The problem is the design of the underride guards. Be safe out there.

Condolences to all involved.
The lesson to learn here is NOT to immediately place blame. The lesson is that when you're behind the wheel, YOU - the driver, are responsible for your own well being. Assertions based on entitlement - ie it's the other guy's fault for cutting him off are ill conceived. You must always be sure to have a "plan B" when you're driving be it in a parking lot, on the highway or on track. You must always assume that the other drivers sharing the road with you might pull out in front of you. If that were to happen, you better be prepared to take evasive action. I personally dial back my speed whenever I'm overtaking another vehicle so that I'm better equipped to handle something such as this. As mentioned above, if you are at speed, physics works against you if you need to make an abrupt change of direction. It's wholly irrelevant that I'm not in the wrong to be passing a slower vehicle. Arguments of who was "right" and who was "wrong" are of little meaning if you're dead. None of us here have firsthand knowledge of what happened. So, none of us have the right to draw any conclusions or place any blame. I personally feel that posting this is a valuable tool to help educate those who don't fully understand the potential consequences one can face regardless of what, where or how they are driving. Motor vehicles are dangerous. They must be treated with respect at all times. |
